2016 Campaign
During the 2016 summer field season, the LEIA Project team increased in size and scale once again. Each day, two teams continued excavation at the Mestre Ramon site, two teams surveyed unexplored areas of the municipality, and another team worked to map and photograph known archaeological sites in the area.
The team was able to make significant progress in 2016, which will allow them to shift their excavation and survey efforts to new parts of the municipality during the next summer field season.
The team was made up of students from various parts of Spain, the USA, and Australia.

Survey
The survey team spent the entire field season surveying areas away from known archaeological sites. The team was able to cover areas ranging from the most coastal part of Son Servera to the most inland area. The project's overall goal is to survey an area stretching from the sea in the southeast to the hills in the northwest as well as a perpendicular area stretching from the southwest to northeast portions of the municipality.
The team continued to increase the amount of area surveyed during each field season. In 2016, the team was able to survey 8,773 points, a marked increase on the previous years (~6,000 in 2015 and ~2,600 in 2014, respectively).
